Israeli Airstrikes Devastate Yemen, Death Toll Climbs to 46

Sana’a, September 12, 2025 — The death toll from a series of Israeli air raids on Yemen has climbed to at least 46, with dozens more wounded, according to health officials in the Houthi-controlled capital, Sana’a. The strikes mark one of the deadliest escalations in Israel’s widening campaign against Iranian-linked groups across the Middle East.

Local authorities reported that airstrikes targeted residential areas, military sites, and infrastructure in Sana’a, Hodeidah, and Saada provinces late Thursday and early Friday. Images from the ground showed collapsed buildings, charred vehicles, and frantic rescue efforts as civilians searched for survivors beneath the rubble.

Israel has not issued an immediate statement on the strikes, but regional media quoted security sources as saying the operation was aimed at degrading Houthi missile and drone capabilities. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have repeatedly launched drones and missiles toward Israel and shipping lanes in the Red Sea since the Gaza war intensified in 2023.

Yemeni health officials warned that the casualty count could rise further as emergency workers continue to recover bodies from debris. Hospitals in Sana’a and Hodeidah are reportedly overwhelmed, with shortages of medical supplies hampering treatment of the wounded.

The escalation comes amid heightened tensions in the Red Sea, where U.S. and allied naval forces have been patrolling to secure vital shipping routes. Analysts warn that the raids risk deepening Yemen’s humanitarian crisis, already considered among the worst in the world, and could draw Iran and its regional proxies into broader confrontation with Israel.

The United Nations condemned the violence, urging all parties to exercise restraint and protect civilians.

A spokesperson for the UN Humanitarian Office in Geneva said: “Yemen’s people have endured nearly a decade of conflict. This new wave of airstrikes risks tipping an already fragile situation into catastrophe.”

White Horse Daily – Signature Analysis Angle:
The raids in Yemen underline Israel’s strategy of extending its battlefield to pre-empt threats from Iranian proxies. Yet the human cost — families buried under rubble, hospitals stretched beyond capacity — adds another layer to a regional conflict increasingly defined by cycles of retaliation. For Israel, each strike signals strength; for Yemen, it signals another chapter of devastation in a war without end.
