A catastrophic fire erupted at a food-processing facility under construction in Taichung, central Taiwan, claiming the lives of at least nine people. The blaze, which broke out in the early hours, quickly engulfed the five-story building that was being developed for a PX Mart supermarket. The rapid spread of the fire was exacerbated by the presence of foam panels on the site, which are highly flammable, contributing to the intensity of the flames.
Firefighters and rescue teams were quickly deployed to the scene, where they worked tirelessly to search for survivors amid the thick smoke and dangerous conditions. Tragically, one individual was reported to have died after jumping from the third floor in an attempt to escape the flames. Others were found by rescuers during a thorough search operation that continued well into the evening.

A total of 19 people were rescued from the burning building, with many suffering injuries ranging from minor burns to more severe trauma. The injured were promptly rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities examining all possible factors that could have led to such a devastating incident. The disaster has raised significant concerns about safety measures at construction sites, especially when dealing with flammable materials.
